Let me say two things quickly before I dive into this review. The first is that as a child growing up, I would not have cared less about Transformers - the toys, TV show or animated films. When it was announced that a live-action TRANSFORMERS film was made, directed by the bay, I would not have cared less, not because I did not dig Bay work, but simply because I do not care about the subject. Second, and perhaps more directly relevant to this discussion, the nightmare that I remember as a child (known as the Reagan era of the 1980s) involved in the destruction of the city where I live right now Washington DC t I did not know how many nuclear missiles that the Russians had, but I knew very well that many of them were directed against the country's capital. WAR GAMES seeing for the first time as a teenager was not wearing on me a little good.
Do not get me wrong, DC is one hell of a beating in the dark of the moon, but it was in the last hour of this chapter TRANSFORMERS I simply forgot to breathe, and no one second more to do. For a good time, decimating the bay and his friends created CGI robots in Chicago. And I will not lie: it is so realistic and completely destroyed was almost more than I could handle. Of course, people outside of Chicago will probably not have the same reaction as I did (I did not even get a little misty eyes see in California falling into the Pacific Ocean in 2012, New York or die countless science fiction stories), but our city has ever been the victim of a hate crime weird like that before. And as much as it hurts to see him, I also love to see happen.
I would also add interest to disclose the total, that the version of Dark of the Moon that this was not in 3D, probably because some of the effects is not completely done, which would have forced the film to go in and out of 3D effects do not were incomplete, because it would be in 3D. But there were definitely a couple of times watching this film, where the potential for 3D was very clear. As a reminder, Bay shot this film in 3D, and probably look great. In addition, audio mix, and the design was not ready yet, so some parts seem to be particularly intense to the point where the items were buried, when they clearly had to be heard. But because the film does not come out until July 4th weekend, seemed unbelievably perfect.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon begins with a good idea and a cool background story (the script is credited to Ehren Kruger on imdb.com, but the impression I've seen, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman names were credited as well, and when the credits weren 't done, they may have been a temp credit deducted from the final film): As the war on Cybertron between the Autobots and Decepticons seemed lost for the Autobots and their leader, Prime Sentinal Minister, tried to launch a missile in the world, responsible for technology that would have saved their people. Instead crashed into the land of the moon and the Autobots were forced to flee to Earth. Coincidentally, this lunar crash happened when John F. Kennedy was president, and he immediately made his famous promise to the nation to put a man on the moon (specifically, an American, so we would have beaten the Russians to investigate the accident, see how it works?).
In fact, this film, each of the NASA lunar landing was indeed an investigation into the wreck.
The first half hour of Dark Of The Moon focuses primarily on the history (with a brief fight and chase sequences pepperd i), but it's actually a cool story on the Autobots discover that the technology would save race and the planet was on the moon all the time, they were on earth, and no one bothers to tell them, Optimus Prime is not amused. Of course, we also receive the adventures of Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf), who has now completed his training and is desperately seeking his first job. He has a new girlfriend, Carly (model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley) that do not need an occasion to dress in tight clothing imaginable. Bay has a lot of fun shooting Rosie as a Victoria Secret commercial advance (which he probably has his days off).
Sam is shocked that he, too, looking for work because he believes he should act in parallel to his Autobot friends, goes on a mission, and help save his world. Autobots are now firmly in place as part of the U.S. military, as we see in a short mission to the Middle East early in life. They would have killed Bin Laden years ago. Some Decepticons are still around, as beaten-down Megatron, who is particularly ominous in the dark half of the moon because his head is missing, and these little spider-like robots to crawl in and out, where his brain circuit may have in once. He rips them off, almost unnoticed, which is somehow worse. Megatron is still in good condition, because the plot long ago, is coming to fruition.
The intelligent script manages to find new ways to Transformers in world events, including a particularly nasty "accidents" on the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, which was actually the result of some of the technologies to experiment with the moon. And I do not think I break anything by saying that Optimus will find a way to download the body of the wreck Sentinal first moon and revive (expressed to perfection by Leonard Nimoy). I'm not just talking too much about the twists and turns that lead to the confrontation in Chicago between a small group of people and a massive foreign army robot, but when Sam told the team Nest "Chicago is zero!" I received a $ # @! Chill ING.
Speaking of the characters and shows. LaBeouf LaBeouf is either to dig or not. Sometimes, I dig the man much, and it seems particularly concentrated in the dark of the moon, and wider shoulders. Huntington-Whiteley is actually very good here, and certainly infinitely better than Megan Fox, if only because it really is something to do here, beyond the aspect of a million dollars. I would not say Carly is a major player in this film, but at least allowed to contribute. They are also back Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson as team leaders and Epps Lennox Nest, a gruesome, little attention is given to personal growth in one of their cases.
And do not forget that John Turturro, a former agent Simmons, who wrote a book about aliens on earth and become a wealthy eccentric, trying desperately not to get sucked back into the game of foreigners. Many of his scenes are with a man of regular Coen Brothers, Frances McDormand, as Charlotte Mearing, the commander of the Defense Department in charge of missions involving the Autobots. What kind of hard ass who does not care if Sam wants to play with robots. "You're a soldier, you are a messenger," which is rightly remembered.
The new cast are such prominent guests as John Malkovich, largely wasted (but still funny) and Sam is the head tech, where eventually be rented, Ken Jeong, as a colleague with a much-needed information about the project moon Alan Tudyk, Simmons, a very good hand right, and Patrick Dempsey, like Dylan, Carly head, and perhaps competition for her affection. Oh, and also harbors a desire to dominate the world. I thank the movie before me that Sam parents are very disappointed by this article Transformers. Certainly, there remains the operation of a drop of a dime, are not fun, and we do not need a comedian so in every case when we have some 'street smart robots to entertain us. Yes, I'm too far back, but let's just say they were relaxed. [Hello everyone. Only 100 percent clear, I am not talking of "twins" here, I'm not in this film.
I'm talking about Wheelie (Tom Kenny, who is also expressed in skates VENGEANCE) and other similar smaller robots that act like teenagers Streetwise.]
So what about the scenes of corruption in Chicago? These sequences are cool for a few reasons, but let me speak frankly from a standpoint of pure action. Because the Decepticons (which took over the city for reasons involving the restoration of their planet) can detect the machines that come in their airspace, the military can not send planes to bomb them. Accordingly. Small teams of soldiers Nest base jump in the city using the combination, which effectively allows to steal as much as some of you might think this was done with visual effects, guess again. I saw these guys blow up the Sears Tower and Trump Tower. Guys $ # @! ING wing, then pulled their pods, then landed. To see the most action sequences, it seemed to me that Bay chose to go much more convenient than it was with this franchise in the past. Virtually the only completely artificial black of the moon are robots and what a huge difference it makes.
And there's something about the downward revision of things in some scenes of Chicago, which is more rewarding than the hammer in a large number of troops and artillery. There is a scene where Sam and Lennox are involved in one Decepticon, and manage to bring back after a long, hard struggle. In a way, this small moment resonates so strong that the bombs and explosions that have the bad guy robots and half block at a time (oh, do not worry, there's plenty of that too). It's nice to see the bay to act globally by thinking locally. The other thing that happens in the dark of the moon is alarming is that during the sequence of the invasion of Chicago, civilians die in reality ... in large numbers, leaving behind a pile of clothes and a low quality, the skeleton scattered (it sounds silly, I know, but it's actually pretty traumatic).
I think I'm going to go to the Transformers in the dark during the month, at least until I see it in 3D again (maybe the IMAX to boot, just really blows my eyes and my mind). So you might be a follow-up after July 1st or so. But I must admit, I'm really surprised at what all of this film, not only for its scale, but also in its pacing, performances and ideas. This is afraid to go dark from time to time, and that helped me find component is often missing in many films in Bay: the feeling. You probably will not shed any tears watching the moon DARK but does not care a number of people killed or in danger. This could really rock a little 'of its foundation, get excited. In the summer session to get progressively better.
